How to read the table

Each row is a role Kestrel ships. Each column is a part of Kestrel. "Acts" means the role has a capability there beyond reading or running a report. "Reads" means the role can read and nothing more. A dash means the role has nothing in that part. A person's reach is the union of their roles, so someone who is both a teacher and a head of house gets both rows together.

IT holds no capability on the person record, by design. Administering the system is a different job from reading a child's record, and a school that wants its IT staff to read it grants that on purpose.

Role guides and training

Each role has a guide of the tasks it does, one at a time, in the documentation at "/docs/guides". Families have a guide of their own. The training plan at "/docs/training" has a short course for each role, and each module chapter's training notes name the course to use. This guide is organised by module and by journey, and the role guides are organised by who you are, so use the one that fits the question.
